Yes, we made it to the top... but at what price? We had to eat both Shelley and Irving (the alternative was more PowerGel). The devastation of our ordeal is etched into the lines on our faces, as you can see from the above photo, or at least could see if the focus was better.
What lessons can be learned from this disastrous misadventure? First, and this is crucial, gorp is better than PowerGel. (How dramatically different history might have been if Henry Hudson, to name only one example, had understood this distinction.) Second, if you're only going for a weekend, Kamloops is probably a little far. And third, American remakes of European films are almost invariably painful to watch. (This last, although not a direct logical extension of our experience, is still very important to remember.) |
